Nutri-Net Canada History

Nutri-Net Canada Project Origins:  In December 2005, Wellness West hosted a meeting for stakeholders in the functional foods and natural health products sector to identify collaborators and gather support for the development of a funding proposal to define a sector strategy.  By the end of the meeting the Nutri-Net Canada Steering Committee was created and a consultant identified to work with the Steering Committee to draft the funding proposal.

Wellness West and WCFN (then the BC Functional Food and Nutraceutical Network, BCFN) applied to the Agriculture Policy Framework Science and Innovation Brokering Program in 2005. This program, under the Agri-Food Policy Framework’s Science and Innovation component, is designed to bring together a full spectrum of organizations to develop ideas that will accelerate the adoption of innovation and the commercialization of products.
